Zig Zag Cheater Quilt

For Spoonflower's Zig Zag Cheater Quilt Contest I decided to enter the Ladybug Cheater Quilt.  This piece is part of the Ladybug Collection.  Currently I have five pieces available for sale from that collection.  The fabrics that you can purchase now are  Daisies & Ladybugs, Colorful Ladybugs On Vine, Pink Daisies & Ladybugs , Red Ladybugs On Vine and Red Ladybugs On Vine Green Background.  If you are interested in any of the other fabrics please contact me and I can make it available for purchase as soon as possible.

This cheater quilt was my first ever to put together.  A cheater quilt is designed to look like patchwork or applique so that you do not have to do the piecework and just quilt and bind the fabric to make a finished quilt.  They are a lot of fun to design.  It's kind of like putting a puzzle together using fun colors and different designs.  The ladybugs were inspired by my dear friend who asked me to design ladybugs for her sweet daughter's first birthday.  End result was 16 different fabrics and 2 cheater quilts to choose from.  I love being asked to design something special for people that they have in mind.  If I have time what I tend to do is to make a variety of different fabrics of the same theme so that the client has many to choose from.  I'm also always willing to adjust sizing of the design and colors to better suit the needs of the client.  So if you have an idea for a design and would like to have it on fabric and would like me to design it please by all means contact me.  It provides great inspiration for me and I always love the challenge of a new project.  Plus I'm always honored by the request.

Now at Spoonflower you can also purchase these designs for wallpaper and wall decals!  Perfect for a child's bedroom or play area!

Ladybug Collection

Here is a picture of two fabrics from the Ladybug Collection.  My friend placed a large order to make gift bags for her daughter's first birthday.  Her birthday theme is ladybugs.  How cute is that?!  I am so excited to see her project when it is finished.  As soon as I get pictures I will be sure to post.

The two designs that she decided to go with are Daisies & Ladybugs and Colorful Ladybugs On Vine.  Those two fabrics are currently available for purchase at my Spoonflower Shop.  If you like any others from this collection please contact me and I'll be able to make them available for purchase as soon as possible.  I'm really pleased how well the colors turned out in both designs.  I'm also very excited about the perfect seamless repeats.  Very happy with the end result.

Now Available!

Thank you to my dear friend for inspiring me to make this collection.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my blog!

Ladybug Cheater Quilt

Okay so yesterday I designed my first cheater quilt.  I think I am addicted to designing cheater quilts now.  I am not a very experienced seamstress and I honestly believe this is something I could make.  I'm thinking perfect gifts for my daughters, son, nieces, family and friends. I will post my attempt once I have received the material from Spoonflower.

This ladybug design was inspired by a dear friend of mine.  She has so kindly asked me to design ladybug material for her precious daughter's first birthday coming up.  If you would like to see the Ladybug Collection please click here.  If you are interested in any of the fabric please contact me and I'll make it available for purchase as soon as possible.

The Ladybug Cheater Quilt is also part of the Ladybug Collection.  One yard of this fabric would make an adorable ladybug quilt.  I was imagining all kinds of embellishments like red, pink, or light green soft satin ribbon around the four edges or even adding on more fabric pieces from the Ladybug Collection if you are an expert sewer.  I designed the ladybugs to look like buttons so it could be a really cute addition to sew buttons onto the quilt too.  There are two fabric pieces that I'm thinking about for the back side of the quilt.  I think I'd like to try a yard of either the Daisies & Red Ladybugs On Green Background or Pink Daisies & Ladybugs.

I copied a link here to get basic instructions on putting together your own cheater quilt.  If you are a novice sewer like me click here for the How to on eHow.

I will be sure to post my cheater quilt adventure.  Wish me luck!  Maybe since this is a ladybug quilt the ladybugs will bring me that extra luck I need, you think?  I'm going to surely need it!
