Typewriters

This is my design entry for Spoonflower's Typewriters Contest.  This contest is a typewriter-themed fabric using only black and white as colors.  I decided to turn my retro style typewriters into lovely vases of flowers.  I also thought it would be fun to make the same word scramble in each patch.  The hint I gave...."I think it's pretty safe to say we all here think it's kind of awesome."

If you would like to check out my entire Black & White Typewriters Collection please click here!  If you are interested in any of the fabrics please contact me and I'll be sure to make them available for purchase as soon as possible.  Also if you would like to vote for the Typewriters Contest please click on typewriter!  You do not have to be a member to vote.  Voting begins on September 6th and best to get your vote in by September 10th.

Zig Zag Cheater Quilt

For Spoonflower's Zig Zag Cheater Quilt Contest I decided to enter the Ladybug Cheater Quilt.  This piece is part of the Ladybug Collection.  Currently I have five pieces available for sale from that collection.  The fabrics that you can purchase now are  Daisies & Ladybugs, Colorful Ladybugs On Vine, Pink Daisies & Ladybugs , Red Ladybugs On Vine and Red Ladybugs On Vine Green Background.  If you are interested in any of the other fabrics please contact me and I can make it available for purchase as soon as possible.

This cheater quilt was my first ever to put together.  A cheater quilt is designed to look like patchwork or applique so that you do not have to do the piecework and just quilt and bind the fabric to make a finished quilt.  They are a lot of fun to design.  It's kind of like putting a puzzle together using fun colors and different designs.  The ladybugs were inspired by my dear friend who asked me to design ladybugs for her sweet daughter's first birthday.  End result was 16 different fabrics and 2 cheater quilts to choose from.  I love being asked to design something special for people that they have in mind.  If I have time what I tend to do is to make a variety of different fabrics of the same theme so that the client has many to choose from.  I'm also always willing to adjust sizing of the design and colors to better suit the needs of the client.  So if you have an idea for a design and would like to have it on fabric and would like me to design it please by all means contact me.  It provides great inspiration for me and I always love the challenge of a new project.  Plus I'm always honored by the request.

Now at Spoonflower you can also purchase these designs for wallpaper and wall decals!  Perfect for a child's bedroom or play area!

School Supplies Fabric

This week's contest at Spoonflower is the School Supplies Contest.  All of the school supplies in my design are created out of cut paper and made into a paper collage.  I really enjoyed cutting the different colored papers and putting this design together.  The first design I ever did out of only paper was for the Paper Collage Cakes Contest called Cupcakes.  That turned out to be a lot of fun and this one was too.

As I was creating this one it was making me excited for the new school year and for the fall!  I'm so ready for the fall!  My favorite shows are coming back, pumpkin everything, my crockpot, cooler weather and the colors of the leaves on the trees.  One of my favorite sounds is the sound of the wind blowing the leaves down a quiet street.  For this design I knew right away that I wanted to have apples in the mix.  Of course I had to have a teacher's apple.  Apples are another wonderful thing about the fall.

Happy New School Year Everyone!!!

Spoonflower Collage

I am so excited!  This week my design was chosen to be in the Spoonflower collage.  It's probably silly really but for some reason I just think it's so cool to have my design be in the collage they put together to announce the new weekly contest.  This will be my second time to be in a collage.  The first time was in the Paper Collage Cakes Contest.  My fabric design Cupcakes is now available for purchase.  If you would like to see my newest collection please click on Gone Camping.  If you are interested in purchasing any of the fabrics please contact me and I will make it available for purchase as soon as possible.

Spoonflower really has a great blog to check out.  They are always posting interviews with designers, information about the contests, weekly giveaways, helpful tutorials and fun creative ideas for craft and fabric projects.  Definitely worth your time to check it out!  If you would like to take a look at Spoonflower's blog please click here.   You can also keep up to date with what's new at Spoonflower on Facebook by clicking Like.  Here is the Spoonflower Facebook Link.  Featured on Spoonflower's Facebook Wall you will see the Camping Contest Collage that I am so excited about.
